Toi M?ori artists in Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty district. We are an arts and culture umbrella that was established over 50 years ago to support the growth of arts and culture.We have a focus on connecting, upskilling, supporting and promoting creatives and their activities.While we are an independent organisation governed by a trust, our operational costs are funded by Tauranga City Council, Western Bay of Plenty District Council and TECT. Reporting directly to the board, the prosperous applicant will be responsible for leading engagement with M?ori artists and arts practitioners, providing strategic advice on the direction and development of the Ng? Toi M?ori sector, advocating on behalf of ringatoi and providing specialist knowledge to support funding, investment and strategic planning decisions. This new function will help shape the future direction of Creative Bay of Plenty's operations and play a key part in achieving its strategic objectives, embodying its organisational values, facilitating valuable collaborative opportunities, and supporting the success and empowerment of indigenous artists. To be prosperous in this position, you will: » Have a good knowledge of the arts sector in Aotearoa, with broad knowledge and established networks within Ng? Toi M?ori and across a range of arts practices; » Ideally be mana whenua with whakapapa links to Tauranga Moana; » Have excellent oral and written communication expertise, with the capability to use language to inspire others (knowledge of te reo M?ori would be an advantage); » Have a good knowledge of local ringatoi, artists, hap?, iwi and other key groups; » Have demonstrated practice providing strategic advice and recommendations; and » Have a passion for supporting others to achieve their potential, including fostering collaborative opportunities.
