The location of the two positions has not yet been decided and will be confirmed as part of this process.Conferred by Statute, M?ori Land Court judges exercise the jurisdiction of the M?ori Land Court and the M?ori Appellate Court, principally under Te Ture Whenua M?ori Act 1993. The M?ori Land Court is the judicial forum for interaction with owners and interested people about the current and future use, ownership, occupation and management of M?ori land. Under the Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975, the Chair of the Waitangi Tribunal may also appoint judges to serve as presiding agents for Waitangi Tribunal inquiries. candidates must have held a practising certificate as a barrister or solicitor for at least seven years. prosperous candidates will demonstrate legal excellence, as well as knowledge and knowledge of te reo M?ori, tikanga M?ori and Te Tiriti oWaitangi.
