ABOUT COGO:
CoGo's goal is to help consumers align the money they spend with their environmental and social values. We believe this provides consumers with a voice by allowing them to vote with their wallet, and helping businesses that are taking positive environmental and ethical actions to maximise the ROI of these initiatives.
Over the last 12 months we have developed and launched a world changing carbon footprint calculator, allowing our users to see the carbon impact of their purchase in real-time, by plugging into their banking transaction data via the UK's Open Banking Standards. This has been launched in Beta in the UK, and New Zealand.
CoGo is on a high growth trajectory. In New Zealand and the UK we are partnering with major high street banks and retailers bringing a massive growth in our user base through our consumer app and the development of an API product. We are continuing to develop our core features, alongside some of the world’s leading experts, including our carbon footprint calculator, behavioral nudge framework, and ethical recommendation engine.

ABOUT THE function:
CoGo understands that living sustainably will require behaviour change among many of us. Often, information alone is not enough to get people to change their behaviours. CoGo applies behavioural science concepts and experimentation to empower users to close this value-action gap. In this function, you will be responsible for conducting research about people's values, beliefs, goals, worldviews, and motivations, and their impact on their behaviour and decision making with regards to sustainable lifestyles.
The function will report to the Head of Insights and work collaboratively with the product team and other departments.
As part of a small team you'll have a large impact on the direction of the app and the future growth of CoGo.
The day to day responsibilities include:
   » Gain a deep knowledge of the CoGo Community's behaviour and attitudes in relation to adopting a sustainable lifestyle
   » Advise the product team and the UX research team on designing our product located on behavioural science concepts
   » Design experiments and tereliable hypothesis and apply behavioural science theory in the realm of sustainable lifestyle choices
   » Manage our behavioural science experimentation roadmap and document results to grow our knowledge in this space
   » Align the behavioural science experiments with the product development roadmap
   » Foster a close working relationship with the product team
   » Support other departments such as marketing, sales & communications with our learned behavioural science insights
ABOUT YOU:
Do you have a passion for sustaincapability and are fascinated by the psychology behind human decision making? Do you want to be part of a team that uses technology to help people live in line with their environmental values and beliefs? If so, we want to hear from you.
We are seeking for a highly motivated social scientist to join our insights team. The ideal candidate has a background in sociology, anthropology, psychology, economics or any other areas related to human behaviour, ideally with some practice applying research in a non-academic setting.
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:
   » Research practice:A Postgraduate qualification in social science with practice conducting quantitative and qualitative research. This might include doing literature reviews, identifying appropriate evaluation techniques, using randomised controlled trials, quasi-experimental research design, and mixed methods.
   » Know the science: Interest in and knowledge of the literature on human behaviour and decision making.
   » Ethics & Project Management: Background in experimental design, human research ethics, and managing research projects.
   » Statistics:Demonstrable knowledge of theory and practice of statistical concepts. Power calculations,descriptive statistics, data visualisations, general linear model, factor analysis.Statistical software expertise (R or Python).
   » Communication: Excellent written and oral expertise for presenting to non-technical audiences. The capability to produce clear, concise, professional, and useful outputs including reports and briefs. Excellent interpersonal expertise for working collaboratively in teams.

The income range for this function is£30,000-£45,000k (UK located) or $60,000-$85,000 (NZ located), depending on expertise and practice.
