About our team
The ECE team works with and supports Early Childhood Services, Kohanga Reo, Playcentres and Playgroups. Team members are located in offices across the Taranaki, Whanganui and Manawatu region.
About the function
The function is responsible for the following:
   » Maintaining relationships with early learning services and stakeholdersIntegration of evidence-located problem-solving and best practice
   » Providing subject matter skills and advice to the team
   » leadership abilities of early childhood initiatives at a local level
   » Accountcapability for accelerating and sustaining Maori achievement
   » Integrating the Ministry’s wider goals, policies and strategies such as Ka Hikitia, Pasifika Education Plan and other educational initiatives
About you
To be prosperous in this function you will have in-depth knowledge of Early Learning services, the Early Childhood curriculum, regulations and pedagogies.You will have broad practice in leading a team to meet the requirements of the function to ensure the work covers the implementation of government policy and direction while building relationship within and across sectors.
The capability to work collaboratively with other aspects of the ministry is important.
You will also offer the following:
   » The confidence to work across a diverse range of services and contexts, including Maori medium and Pacific ECE services
   » practice in assessing information to make objective judgments against criteria and recommending courses of action
   » Strong written and oral communication skills
   » The capability to work with others to support and implement change initiatives
   » The capability to lgain quickly
   » Demonstrate an knowledge of education systems in New Zealand, and significant education legislation
   » A current NZ driver’s licence, travel is required with this position
