We’re looking for Designers to join our newly formed team. You’ll be driving forward transformative service changes for ACC – using human centred design methods to find and elaborate solutions for delivery.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your design, research and problem-solving expertise to make a difference to the lives of New Zealanders.

   » You’ll have practice unpacking problems through human centred design methods and have a range of tools in your toolkit to utilise
   » You’ve participated in and led design activities in a team setting
   » Be a confident communicator who can clearly articulate ideas and guide others through the design process
   » Able to create a positive team environment, with those who may have a range of backgrounds, practice and agendas and influence from within this
   » Be well organised, action oriented and a positive culture creator
   » capability to balance creativity with operational reality
   » Have a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application to your function
   » Have an inclusive, safe and collaborative style which creates space for diverse perspectives
   » Being willing to roll your sleeves up to tackle challenges big and small and bring a curiosity to the work is most important
What you’ll be doing
As Designer you’ll be participating in and leading research, insight, ideation and experimentation activities with the intention of improving practices for ACC’s customers. Be that Businesses, Treatment Providers, Injured people or looking at potential interventions to stop injury.
The work will be busy and varied. You could be facilitating a workshop, interviewing customers, creating artefacts, working with SMEs or presenting to sponsors depending on the project and priority of the day.
You’ll be applying fit for purpose approaches to problem solving and bringing the human behaviour lens to the organisation to articulate the aspiration for practices with and influenced by ACC.
The design initiatives this team focuses on could relate to new service, product, policy, process or promotion. There may be an element of digital practice considered in our design – but if digital design is more your caper check out this function. Please visit the functionhere.
As part of the Design Community of Practice – you’ll have the opportunity to lgain by doing and share in the capcapability uplift we aim to bring for design practice across the organisation.
Who will you be working with?
Reporting to the Design Resourcing and Practice Manager you’ll be part of a creative team of human centred design, practice design and behaviour change practitioners.
You’ll be working with stakeholders and SMEs from across ACC and our customers to understand and unpack opportunities through design activities.
For us, it’s not just about the work you do – it’s how you go about Information technology and the relationships you build along the way.
