Contribute to our M?ori Investigation and other investigative work programmes We have a great opportunity for two Intermediate level Solicitors to provide specialist legal advice and support to the Royal Commission in Te Whanganui a Tara (Wellington) and T?maki Makaurau (Auckland). Opportunities like this are few and far between; will you join us? We’re looking for Somebody with a solid expertiseet working in the law in Aotearoa New Zealand. You'll have practice in legal analysis, including drafting clear memoranda and research opinions, and you'll also be familiar with document management. You might be Somebody with a civil litigation, government or in?house background looking to apply your legal expertise to a Royal Commission that is working to make a real difference to our country. We work collaboratively: we think you’ll enjoy being part of our team as we work to fulfil the Commission’s Terms of Reference. We have a multi-faceted and multi-disciplinary approach, which means that every day you'll be working not only within your team and with solicitors in other investigations and external counsel assisting, but also with our investigators, report writers and project managers. There’s a lot of work to do so we're looking for people who can tackle issues efficiently and manage competing priorities. It’s also critical to us that you bring kaupapa, tikanga and reo M?ori approaches to your work and ensure that Te Tiriti o Waitangi underpins what we do. Key Job responsibilities: » Supporting the Legal and Investigations team, as well as to the Commission and Commissioners to fulfil the Terms of Reference. » Provide, or assist in providing, legal and evidential analysis of topics arising from the Commission’s Terms of Reference » Provide high quality, specialist legal advice including conducting research and producing reliable and well-reasoned memoranda » Manage and analyse documents, information and Inquiries Act applications received during the inquiry practice required : » Twoyears plus PQE » Strong knowledge of te reo me ?na tikanga M?ori » A proven capability to draft accurate legal opinions, documents and memoranda » Excellent written and verbal communication expertise » Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) required (with a current practising certificate from the New Zealand Law Society or the capability to obtain one) It is desirable that you have all or some of the following: » Confidence in cultural practices and discapability inclusive approaches » An approach to work that is consistent with Te Tiriti o Waitangi » A demonstrated knowledge of trauma informed approaches » Familiarity with e-discovery software such as Relativity In return you will get to work with some truly passionate and talent individuals within the largest Royal Commission New Zealand has ever seen.
