About our group and team The Data and Information Stewardship group (DIS) is responsible for developing and executing policies, practices, procedures and technology to manage the data and information lifecycle to deliver on the needs of data and information for users of the information. The group champions the management of safe and appropriate use of data and information for better decision making. The Information Management team is responsible for leading Ministry thinking, design, advice and practice for the trusted collection, use, management and sharing of Education data. This includes delivering advice and services to the Ministry, our partners, and directly to the sector. About this function The Senior Advisor Information Management is responsible for ensuring the eff ective and compliant collection, management and use of Education data and information. The Senior Advisor provides services and advice to a wide variety of stakeholders, and supports the practices, relationships and behaviours that maintain the Education Sector’s confidence in data and information. About you We’re looking for an practiced and enthusiastic information management practitioner to be part of delivering new and emerging services around data governance, ethics, transparency, and sovereignty. You’ll have a solid background in information, data or privacy, and know how to deliver real business value through robust information governance and trusted relationships. This is a varied and challenging function in complex and compensateing sector. You’ll enjoy working with a wide variety of stakeholders and experts, and have the confidence to build relationships, communicate effectively, and make things happen. We’ll count on your delivery focus to move us forward on our data journey using a diverse and inclusive approach. To be prosperous in this function you will offer: » working knowledge of emerging issues around data sovereignty, ethics, transparency and the appropriate use of data » demonstrated practice in providing excellent customer-focused data and information management advice in large organisations » practice in knowledge complex business problems, managing priorities, and providing collaborative and innovative solutions » the capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga.
