He angit?tanga: The opportunity
An opportunity for a Collections Specialist has arisen at the New Zealand Maritime Museum Hui Te Ananui a Tangaroa!
Our museum tells the stories of Aotearoa's profound relationship with the sea-from the remarkable first navigators who voyaged across Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa to those responsible for the flying machines which recently won the America's Cup, and everyone and everything maritime in between.
As our Collections Specialist, you will apply the best museum practice to the everyday care, logistics and documentation of the 2 million plus permanent collection and loan items. You will also contribute to a vast variety of the museum's exhibitions and projects and form strong working relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.

With at least 3 years practice of working with heritage collections, you will have broad expertise of museum object handling, packing, tracking and other related back-of-house processing.
Your caring and tidy nature is coupled with your curious mind, positive attitude to work, excellent communication expertise and passion for challenges.
Your genuine interest in maritime related technology will be appreciated.
You must be physically fit and comfortable lifting up to 20kg's, not afraid to work at heights occasionally, and possess a full NZ driver's license. Being certified to operate a forklift would be advantageous but is not essential - we will assist the prosperous applicant in acquiring a licence.
