Ng? k?rero m? te t?ranga – About the function
We are pursuing an individual to serve in a pivotal function that supports and encourages M?ori student participation and achievement across all levels of study. You will be expected to effectively manage and coordinate M?ori student support services to all M?ori students enrolled within the Te W?nanga o Ng? Kete (ALPSS – Arts, Law, Psychology and Social Sciences Division). Our goal is to achieve high levels of student retention, achievement and award completions.
On behalf of ALPSS you will actively manage and co-ordinate the Te P?oho hubs, Paihere Tauira and Wh?tiki Tauira as aligned with the aims and objectives of the Equity Paihere programme and functions and University’s strategic plan. this function sits within the ALPSS administrative team but also works closely with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor M?ori Office.

You have excellent organisation and interpersonal expertise, and are looking for an exciting opportunity where you can make a real difference to M?ori students as you support their needs in their graduate and post-graduate studies. You will understand of the needs of M?ori and an capability to work closely and empathetically with M?ori students and staff. Ideally you will be fluent in te reo M?ori and have a sound knowledge of tikanga M?ori. Your previous significant work practice in this field will be an advantage.
You will need to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication expertise and have a proactive attitude with sound computer and accounting expertise. You will be able to develop and implement new procedures to help us achieve our goals as a Division.

Kete the Division of Arts, Law, Psychology and Social Sciences (ALPSS) includes Te Kura Toi the School of Arts, Te Kura Aronui the School of Social Sciences, and Te Kura Whatu Oho Mauri the School of Psychology, and Te Piringa the Faculty of Law. The Division also contains two research institutes: Te Ngira the Institute for Population Research (IPR) and Te Puna Haumaru the New Zealand Institute for Security and Crime Science (NZISCS). The Pro Vice-Chancellor has responsibility for the overall direction of the Division’s activities.
