Te Tari Taiwhenua | Internal Affairs is transforming the way New Zealanders access our identity and life event services. We’re reimagining and re-designing our service delivery model and putting customers and their wh?nau at the heart of everything we do.

About the function

You will lead the charge to promote privacy and embed a privacy by design culture within Te Ara Manaaki so that we can retain the highest level of confidence in the Department's capability to safeguard the personal information Information technology holds. You will work across the privacy, security and delivery teams to help redesign the authorising environment that underpins sharing our identity and life event information with agencies and organisations for Service Delivery and Operations. This also includes:
   » Providing privacy by design advice to the programme
   » Complete risk assessment, as part of the privacy and security certification and accreditation activities
   » Work closely with teams and managers to identify privacy gaps and risks and recommend solutions
   » Build and maintain effective working relationships with other subject matter experts within the Department and key stakeholders
   » Help to further the Departments privacy maturity and capcapability uplift

About You

As well as a broad knowledge of all aspects of privacy principles, the ideal candidate will have:
   » Strong knowledge of the Privacy Act and how to implement Information technology in an operational environment
   » Sound critical thinking expertise
   » Very good communication expertise
   » Excellent relationship building expertise

Our Work

Te Ara Manaaki is working to make Information technology easier for customers to access our services and connect with government. Through modernising and future proofing our technology and improving how information is shared with partners, services will be delivered in a more joined up, effective way providing digital self-service options to customers and other agencies. This work includes:

Passports and Citizenship

Our new customer centred management system is the basis for us to deliver easy to access, integrated, consistent services across multiple government agencies. We're now expanding service and product offerings such as helping families apply for their first passports with a single application.

Civil Registration

Our customers can already order birth, death and marriage certificates and apply for some services online. It's time for an upgrade so we're modernising and future proofing our technology and improving how information is shared and kept secured.
