Korero mo te turanga – About the function
Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a permanent, full-time Academic Inclusion Coordinator to join the Te Amaru- Discapability Services team. this function ensures that Te Amaru Discapability Services can provide high quality academic inclusion services that assist students to obtain course information and to complete their assessment equitably. The Academic Inclusion Coordinator is responsible for the selection, training, development, support and coordination of volunteers and support staff to ensure quality and efficient services are provided for students with disabilities.
Currently our volunteers include note takers and our paid support staff include Senior Academic Inclusion adjuncts, Academic Inclusion adjuncts and Sign Language Interpreters.
Key Job responsibilities:
   » Recruit and roster volunteers and support staff in a timely manner, who have appropriate expertise and practice to provide a quality service for students with disabilities
   » Ensure all volunteers and support staff are provided with training for their function and given quality training material
   » Provide volunteers and support staff with supervision, development and connection opportunities
   » Ensure students are well informed about the services they are receiving and anything they need to do to access those
   » Regularly monitor and continually improve the quality of the services volunteers and support staff are providing (including obtaining student feedback). Provide volunteers and support staff with feedback, support and problem solve issues as required
   » Obtain teaching delivery information from academic staff about key courses to inform the decisions Discapability and Inclusion Advisers make about academic inclusion support
   » When interacting with academic staff, encourage them to employ discapability inclusive teaching strategies and connect them with the best practice resources and training that Te Amaru – Discapability Services and the Centre of Academic Development have developed

   » A university qualification or substantial expertise and practice in the university environment
   » Proven practice in a coordination or team leader function
   » Strong organisational expertise and the capability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
   » Proven practice in an administrative function that relies on the accurate and timely maintenance of systems to operate effectively
   » An appreciation of the value and philosophy of volunteering
   » Proven practice in delivering excellent customer service
   » Computer practice in the Microsoft Office suite of applications and databases
   » Touch typing and a high data entry rate
   » Proven practice in delivering high quality training
   » expertise and practice in identifying training objectives and use of prosperous presentation techniques
