We need your help to build on the success of the last couple of seasons!The function offers a great opportunity to gain laboratory practice gain an knowledge of the Kiwifruit season work as part of a team or gain some money. This is a great function that will suit a range of candidates no practice required full training will be provided with a range of shift hours available including: »Morning shift (from 6am) »Weekends »Secondary job (from 6am till 8am) The function Seasonal Kiwifruit Laboratory Technicians carry out routine kiwifruit maturity testing on samples on behalf of our client Zespri to determine if samples meet minimum clearance criteria and assess fruit quality. this function is for a fixed-term period from March to May working variable hours. Hours will be rostered to meet the requirements of the business which operates seven days a week. You will be required to be available to work a minimum of three days per week (and up to six) including at least one weekend day. Morning shifts are shorter default start time is 6am (Start time can alter) and usually finishes between 9am and 11am. As a result of the key tasks and responsibilities of the position only a limited number of staff are required. A total of 30 technicians will be hired for the position. Our laboratory operations start ahead of the kiwifruit harvest and offer a variety of tasks. Key tasks and responsibilities Routine maturity testing on samples that may include the following: » Sample reception and dispatch » Calibrating equipment » Completing dry matter » Fruit disposal » Cleaning/housekeeping » Preparing the lab for main shift » Stock taking About you: » Self-disciplined with proven capability to follow set procedures and take the initiative when necessary » Team player able to create a good working relationship with other staff in the team and across the company » capability to demonstrate resilience and adapt quickly to change » Good analytical/technical expertise - attention to detail accuracy and precision » Good level of English » Basic computer expertise » A desire to proactively look for continual improvement » practice working in a laboratory environment is advantageous but not required » Flexible with hours of work recognising that this work is seasonal and has peaks and troughs all over the season » Willing to work additional hours as required » have your own cell phone for receiving text messages (to receive shift information/communications What we offer: » A variety of shift hours appropriate for all including retirees and backpackers » Pay rate $23.65 and 8% holiday pay » Productivity located incentives Hill Laboratories is a family-friendly values driven and mature New Zealand owned business.
