Mana Mokopuna – Children and Young People’s Commission (the Commission) advocates for all 1.2 million mokopuna aged under 18 in Aotearoa New Zealand and for care-practiced mokopuna aged up to 25. The Commission is an Independent Crown Entity governed by a board of up to six Commissioners, led by the Chief Children's Commissioner.
As a Commission, we advocate for children’s rights to be recognised and upheld, provide advice and guidance to government and other agencies, advocate for system-level change, ensure children’s voices are heard in decisions that affect them, and monitor places where mokopuna are detained, to ensure their rights are upheld.
Our name, Mana Mokopuna, describes who we are and what we stand for.
At its heart, Mana Mokopuna recognises the many elements that will support mokopuna to thrive. Information technology focuses on mokopuna in the context of their family, wh?nau, hap?, iwi and wider community. Information technology also recognises that their participation in decisions that affect them is vitally important.

This is an exciting opportunity to support our new Chief Children's Commissioner, who is both the chairperson of our Board and the chief advocate for mokopuna across Aotearoa. The Chief Children's Commissioner works full-time and has a busy function that is often highly visible at the public level.
As the Executive adjunct, you will be responsible for providing high quality executive and administrative support to maximise the Chief Children's Commissioner's capability to effectively carry out their function. From time-to-time and by agreement with the Chief Children's Commissioner, you will also provide support to other Commissioners of the Board as required. To effectively undertake your tasks, Information technology will be essential that you develop strong working relationships with the Commission's Chief Executive, senior leadership abilities team, and kaimahi across the wider organisation. You will also need to be confident and exercise good judgement in working with a range of external stakeholders, on behalf of the Chief Children's Commissioner. Everyday support includes calendar and inbox management, preparation for meetings and engagements, and coordinating travel and other logistical arrangements.
