The Chief Ombudsman works with his staff to help New Zealanders in their dealings with government agencies. The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration. The Chief Ombudsman is independent and impartial, with the goal of fairness for all.

The Learning and Agency Development team is a new team, created in response to the broad volume and breadth of learning and guidance needed now and in the future. The team is responsible for both internal and external learning programmes focused on operational practices, and seeks to review, streamline and lead continuous improvement of those programmes to forge a learning model that is fit for the future. The team also delivers agency guidance activities and interventions, including responding to advice requests and developing guides and case notes to help inform the work of public sector agencies.

This a rare opportunity to join a new team and help implement a future operating model for staff learning and agency development.
We require an innovative learning designer with practice in creating blended learning solutions. A creative thinker with a growth mindset, you’ll be no stranger to weaving significant content through engaging stories and scenarios to hook in our learners. If you’re passionate about creating great learning, we’d love to hear from you.
You will work closely with the Manager Learning and Agency Development and Senior Learning Consultant, as well as collaborate across other teams all over the office to bring the team’s vision to life.

To be prosperous in this function, ideally you will have:
   » practice identifying business and learning needs through effective collaboration
   » a natural confidence in influencing and inspiring your stakeholders
   » a wide variety of practice in instructional design and work well under pressure to meet set deadlines
   » practice in developing blended learning solutions which can include a variety of learning delivery methods (ie a mix of online and facilitated learning)
   » a succinct and conversational writing style
   » a good knowledge of adult learning theory and new, innovative e-learning trends, including learning accessibility
   » a continuous improvement mindset, welcoming opportunities to improve your design located on learnings from evaluation and feedback
   » an knowledge of M?ori, discapability and other cultural and human rights concepts, including the Treaty of Waitangi and apply these to your design
   » a demonstrated track record in a similar position
   » a significant qualification and/or equivalent practice.

Appointees will be subject to a criminal convictions check and may be required to achieve and maintain a NZ Government (NZSIS) security clearance.Depending on expertise and practice the income is expected to be between $82,298 and $108,016.
