Starting early - mid November for approximately 3-4 months, with the option to extend, We are seeking for a couple who would like to work full time (approx 8 hrs/day). The position is usually live in and accommodation is provided to rent in a cosy self contained 1 bedroom cottage on the property. We are situated in the beautiful Winterless North, 20 minutes drive from Kerikeri. You can see our location and business on www.takouriver.com We live in a stunning part of New Zealand on the peaceful Takou River, with direct access downstream to the beach at Takou Bay. We are surrounded by native bush, the beautiful Takou River and 150 acres of organic farm and pastures, and we're within easy driving distance of Kerikeri and all its amenities including the vibrant Farmers' Markets, award winning wineries, cafes and restaurants, marine activities, beautiful coastline and historic sites. We're perfectly located for exploring the Far North. The positions suit a couple. The first position is to work as a cleaner and housekeeper in the cottages, lodge and our luxury home which we rent out over the summer. Your tasks are to clean and prepare the cottages, lodge and house; clean kitchens, bathrooms, living areas and bedrooms; make beds, arrange flowers, prepare the accommodation in general and carry out laundry, ironing and general house keeping tasks. In addition you will meet and greet guests etc. When bookings are quiet, you may also be needed to help in our busy household, carrying out cleaning, housekeeping and general help as well as gardening. We have three children (ages 18, 17 and 14)...any expertise, sports or other interests you have are always welcome! The second position is to help with the cleaning (during the peak season the two of you need to work as a close team to turn around the cottages within tight timeframes). You will also do gardening, clean bbqs, windows, outdoor baths, decks, maintain gardens, move lawns and general exterior and interior maintenamce. On the farm you will also help with weed control, brush cutting, help with farm tasks, stock movement, animal husbandary, equipment maintenance, light construction work etc. When we are busy in the cottages, you will primarily need to help with cleaning and cottage preparation/maintenance. Please let us know if you have specific expertise such as tractor driving, mechanical expertise, fencing, carpentry, landscape gardending etc. as these will be an advantage. Please also tell us your practice in the accommodation business, in particular with housekeeping, cleaning etc. We are seeking for a couple who like rural living, enjoy the outdoors, are physically active and fit, non-smokers, can work independently, responsibly and to deadlines; use their initiative to problem solve; can think for themselves and have a sense of humour. You will be working both independently and as part of our small family team. practice in the hospitality industry and on farms are an advantage. You will need to speak fluent English, have your own transport and must have a driving licence each , be physically fit and active and be non-smokers and no pets. COVID PERMITTING - The position starts early mid November June 2021 for approximately 3-4 months, with the option to extend. Accommodation is provided to rent ($300/week) in a self-contained fully furnished cottage on the property (you are required to live on site). The cottage is warm, sunny and cosy and has an open plan fully equipped kitchen and living area, wood fire, separate double bedroom, king bed and toilet/shower, CD/DVD Player and free access to WiFi. Information technology also has a greenhouse attached and garden area. Furnishings and linen are all provided, and the rent includes all bills and use of our kayaks, canoes etc on the property.
