About our group and team An opportunity exists for a Lead Adviser – M?ori Education to join our team located in the Maungawhau office on a fixed-term basis. The Ministry of Education Auckland provides a veryc supportive working environment where an emphasis is placed on the development of professional skills and responsive service delivery. Our teams work closely with the early learning and schooling sectors, providers and communities to provide support, skills and resources to help children and young people reach their full potential. The prosperous applicant may also be required to provide services across the region. About this function The Lead Education Adviser – M?ori Education works in partnership with schools, kura, early learning services and clusters to identify issues and opportunities to improve equitable results, to problem solve, plan and to broker support. About you To be prosperous in this function, you’ll be working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, developing relationships at a senior level and contributing to area initiatives and project design. Your knowledge and practice of working in M?ori language learning pathways will contribute to the success of the function. The prosperous applicant will: » have a passion for improving educational achievement for ?konga M?ori » work in partnership with sector leaders and communities to support them to achieve prosperous educational results for ?konga M?ori is central to the function » support a collaborative, integrated approach to learning across and beyond the Ministry » work collaboratively with leaders in schools/ kura and early learning services to support best practice » be enthusiastic and committed to creating prosperous educational pathways and building collaborative relationships, able to influence others and to back this up with knowledge, skills and practice in improving ?konga M?ori engagement and achievement » build prosperous relationships with a range of groups and individuals » work with data and information to identify issues and come up with solutions to deal with complex problems and make decisions » work with and leading others to implement and support change initiatives » present and facilitate group discussions » have knowledge and knowledge of the New Zealand education system and significant legislation » have an knowledge of the relationship between policy intent and the range and combination of tools available for implementing new initiatives » have a current driver’s licence.
