About our group and team
Learning Support is a critical part of the Sector Enablement and Support Group in the Ministry. We are charged with leading the education sector in ensuring that children and young people with additional learning needs are supported to achieve their full potential through education.
Our Learning Support specialists work closely with families, wh?nau, caregivers, schools and early childhood educators in English and M?ori medium settings and other agencies to help maximise learning results and promote social inclusion.
The Practice and Implementation Advisor works with Performance and Quality Lead to implement practice changes, support induction and professional development of staff. They are responsible for learning support and education practice development, implementation, and support and guidance at a regional level.
About this function
Repor ting to the Performance and Quality Lead, you will:
   » be responsible for the implementation of learning support and embedding best practice, with the move to focus on education practice over time
   » build and maintain strong relationships with the education sector including local communities of learning to assess and respond to their needs through practice development
   » support and facilitate practice innovations, and the adoption and implementation of new ways of thinking, behaving and working
   » provide practice thought leadership abilities and facilitate system-wide practice approaches
Your function will also include the following:
   » working with National Practice Leads and contributing specialist skills to meet practice specific needs across other regions
   » building strong relationships and credibility within the Ministry and across the sector, and
   » proactively contributing to the development of an effective working environment within Learning Support function regionally and nationally that facilitates high performance, continuous learning, collaboration, engagement and creativity.
About you
To be prosperous in this function you will have significant practice in leading practice in order to continuously improve results for tamariki.
You will also:
   » hold a significant tertiary qualification
   » have the capability to implement frameworks across organisations that support capcapability building
   » be a powerful function model, have high credibility and capability to influence
   » have proven capability to deal with complex, systemic or unique problems
   » effectively facilitate inquiry-located professional learning and development
   » demonstrate a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and M?ori achieving as M?ori.
