Omata Estate is a small boutique vineyard and relaxed style eatery, with a menu serving gourmet platters, wood fired pizza and desserts. We’re open 5 days a week (closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays), 11am-6pm and occasionally in the evenings for private group functions. You’ll love the flexibility these hospitality hours provide, with time to enjoy the beautiful Bay of Islands on your doorstep. As a growing small business, We are seeking for an ambitious, creative individual, who has a can-do attitude, gets excited by new opportunities and enjoys a challenge. You will need to work through busy times with a positive attitude and deliver the high standard of simple, quality food that Omata has built its reputation upon. Working closely with the Restaurant Manager you will ensure the kitchen and front of house work together as one team. Preferred practice: » Previously worked in a commercial kitchen » Stock control and food ordering · practice with woodfired ovens preferable, but training will be provided · Previously managed a small team of staff » Managed a food control plan. Responsibilities include : » General food preparation (e.g. making dough, rolling pizza dough, ingredient prep, platter prep) » Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation » Ordering food supplies, rotating stock, monitoring portion control and wastage » Assist to plan menus, estimating food and labour cost » Demonstrate techniques and provide advice on procedures » Explain and enforce hygiene regulations/maintain food safety standards in the kitchen » expertise of general health and safety best-practise » Supervise and train kitchen staff » Keep a calm head when everything is busy around you » Ensure we are ready for game day every day. This is a full-time position during our busy spring/summer season, commencing mid-September through to mid-May. Whilst we typically close during the winter months, there is opportunity here for us to offer a year-round permanent function for the right candidate.
