About Ministry Procurement The Ministry procurement team is recognised as a leader in government procurement, we have a large and highly capable team, working closely with MBIE and other core agencies to develop the procurement function in NZ. The Ministry procurement team is a fast paced environment with typically 1,400 live contracts at any one time with a contracted value of around $1bn. Our vision is “Shaping procurement solutions that grow future generations of NZ.” About the team The Education Services and Technology team procures goods and services that develop and support the national curriculum (English and Maori). This includes related school support and resources as well as teacher professional development. As part of developing a commissioning framework for services that provide social wrap-around and support services, the overall team will develop stronger relationships with regional teams and provide a dedicated focus on services that are targeted specifically to help Maori and Pacific communities support and engage in education. About this function Reporting to the Commissioning and Communities Procurement Manager, you will work with colleagues to deliver an end to end procurement process. This is a varied and interesting function that will see you provide informative procurement advice and guidance to a wide variety of stakeholders, both internally and externally, aligned to our procurement policies, processes and in conformity with good practice, and NZ Government Procurement Rules. this function is responsible for: » Support the team with reporting on the procurement and contracts database; administration and monitoring of tenders on the Government Electronic Tender System and internal systems; and assisting with admin support on large volume and value tenders and processes » Providing advice on procurement policy, procurement documentation, tender process and exemptions, contract documents, All of Government and Ministry Panels » Provide end-to-end procurement of contracts, All of Government Contracts and Ministry Panels About you To be effective in the function, you are a keen learner, excited to avail of an opportunity to work in a team that is growing and evolving, a people person, customer focused, and comfortable dealing with multiple priorities. You will have the following: » A business degree with one to three years of procurement practice in a Government Agency » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga » consciousness or desire to develop Te Reo M?ori and M?ori tikanga is advantageous » practice in using MS Office applications » Good oral and written communication expertise, effective relationship building expertise with internal and external stakeholders » Accuracy and attention to detail working with data and reports » Good time management expertise, with the capability to prioritize, work effectively as part of a team If this sounds like you, and you are ready to step into a procurement function, our Procurement Specialist position could be for you.
