The Royal New Zealand Ballet (RNZB) is a company of dynamic dancers, performing an eclectic repertoire of outstanding dance for national and international audiences, whilst continuing to build a style that is ultimately unique to the RNZB and Aotearoa, New Zealand.
The RNZB is located in Wellington and tours all over New Zealand and internationally, presenting at least 70 performances a year. It's expected they'll be back in their home theatre - the iconic St James Theatre - in early 2022, once earthquake strengthening work is complete.
The Director of People and Culture has sole charge responsibility for ensuring the overall people capcapability of the RNZB. Supported by two direct reports (Office Administrator and EA/HR Administrator), the Director provides a wide variety of strategic and operational HR support to the Ballet's 70 staff, which includes their 40 dancers.
You'll provide expert HR advice, develop and maintain best practice HR systems and policies, facilitate training and leadership abilities development, lead and support a variety of HR projects and initiatives and provide continuing support and guidance to management and staff.
You'll be customer focussed with the capability to truly partner with and work alongside managers and staff, quickly knowledge their needs and coaching and mentoring them to build excellent people capcapability.

Person Profile:
•Strong generalist HR exposure with demonstrated HR management practice
•Proficient in advising and coaching managers on the full range of HR, ER and health and safety issues
•Well-developed knowledge of HR legislation, systems and best practice
•capability to operate in a sole charge capacity; at both a strategic and hands on operational level
•practice in leading and implementing projects
•Excellent written and oral communication expertise
•Strong relationship management capabilities
•A commitment to, and an knowledge of, the Treaty of Waitangi and multi-culturalism
•A significant tertiary level qualification
•capability to identify with and promote the values of the RNZB
•An interest or practice in the arts, or more broadly the not for profit sector, is preferable
