Te Tari Taake ?Inland Revenue' plays a critical function in improving the economic and social wellbeing of Aotearoa ?New Zealand'. We do this by collecting and distributing money – we collect 80% of the Crown's revenue and distribute social support payments.
Te Tiriti o Waitangi ?Treaty of Waitangi' commitments matter to us, and one of the ways we are working to meet these commitments is through our M?hutonga work programme. M?hutonga weaves Te Tiriti o Waitangi and M?ori principles, concepts, and practices into the way everyone at Inland Revenue works every day.

M? te roopu | About the team
The Customer Insight and Evaluation (CIE) team seeks to inspire people to improve results for both Inland Revenue and its customers by undertaking robust research and evaluation activities to:
   » Understand customers' needs and drivers;
   » Determine how well our processes, policies, channels, and behaviours deliver to those needs and drivers;
   » Identifying opportunities to improve the way we deliver these things in future.
Our M?ori Research and Evaluation team, a part of the wider CIE team, are committed to and passionate about wh?nau, hap?, iwi wellbeing. The team is responsible for implementing its M?ori Research and Evaluation work programme which aims to provide insights from the voice of wh?nau, hap?, iwi to inform strategic decision-making at Inland Revenue.
M? te t?nga | About the function
We are pursuing an applicant on a12 Month fixed-term or an Inter-Agency Secondment, for our M?ori Research and Evaluation team within CIE. While We are seeking for a Researcher or Evaluator at a Senior level, we also encourage anyone who has practice in an entry level function to apply. In this function you will have the opportunity to:
   » Work closely with the M?ori Research & Evaluation Programme Lead, as well as CIE's Team Leads and Group Leads, to design and deliver projects for CIE's work programme, especially contributing to our M?ori Research & Evaluation work programme.
   » Ensure rigour around the collection, analysis, interpretation and reporting of information about M?ori customers.
   » Engage and connect across the business to advance the knowledge, impact, and action of our insights.
M?u | About you
The ideal candidate will have the following expertise and practice:
   » Excellent communication expertise - a great storyteller who has the capability to interact with stakeholders both internally and externally, including wh?nau, hap?, iwi, M?ori organisations and M?ori communities.
   » Strong knowledge of Te Ao M?ori, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
   » Solid demonstrable analytical expertise, preferably in context to qualitative and/or quantitative methods.
   » Strong knowledge and practice of a range of research and/or evaluation methods, including kaupapa M?ori approaches and frameworks.
It would be advantageous if the candidate also has these expertise and practice, however Information technology is not essential:
   » significant academic qualification(s) in research, social science, economics, or a related discipline.
   » Proficiency in te reo M?ori.
   » Proven practice in designing and leading projects, especially research and/or evaluation projects.
   » practice in procuring cost-effective services to achieve research, monitoring, and evaluation objectives.
