We are seeking for an energetic, reflective, and hands-on professional to join ArtspaceAotearoa as Kaiawhina Whakaaturanga adjunct Curator. About Artspace Aotearoa
Artspace Aotearoa is a leading non-profit contemporary art organisation located in theheart of T?maki Makaurau Auckland on Karangahape Road. Founded in 1987 byartists, Information technology centres the ways in which artcontributes to our knowledge and reimaginingof the world in which we live. Artspace Aotearoa runs a rigorous annual programme ofexhibitions that are enriched through public programmes, screenings, online publishing,and residencies. Information technology works within a specific city context, and spirals out into national and international conversations that promote practices that present emancipatory world
views. With a specific focus on developing an intergenerational kaupapa, ArtspaceAotearoa seeks to present established, emergent and under-recognised positions.Artspace Aotearoa acknowledges the provisions of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and as anorganisation we support and value Indigenous creative practices within Aotearoa NewZealand and abroad.
About the function
The Kaiawhina Whakaaturanga adjunct Curator will work closely with the KaitohuDirector to deliver the programmatic component of our organisation in order to reach ourartistic and strategic priorities. The Kaiawhina Whakaaturanga adjunct Curator functionreflects the root of this word, curare, to care, and engages with the full spectrum ofcuratorial work from front of house to back of house, from planning to delivery ofArtspace Aotearoa content including exhibitions and their public programming,screenings, publishing work, and residency partnerships as well as communications andpublic engagement. As part of the team, the Kaiawhina Whakaaturanga adjunctCurator works to deliver a dynamic, empowering exhibition programme in a safe andprofessional manner to our diverse and evolving publics.
About you
As part of a small team you are energetic, organised, detail-orientated, agile and have anuanced knowledge of collaborative and self-led work. You have demonstratedpractice in the arts, specifically in a curatorial function or engaging with curatorialstrategies and the desire to develop your curatorial position and skill set. You have astrong interest in continual learning about Te Tiriti o Waitangi and will actively seekopportunities to uphold and implement this across Artspace Aotearoa programming andoperations, You are excited to contribute to the broader goals of the organisation andwork with the team to create adynamic and resilient organisation. You are committed todeveloping holistic practices in the workplace.
