Papa QEII NationalJob description:Job DescriptionDo you want to help protect Aotearoa’s unique natural and cultural heritage on private land for the benefit of all New Zealanders?Are you resourceful, practical, physically fit, resilient, and able to build lasting partnerships across multiple sectors? Do you want flexible working hours? If so, an opportunity to represent QEII as a Regional Representative in the Tararua District has arisen. QEII is an independent charitable trust that partners with private landowners to protect sites on their land with covenants. A covenant is an agreement between us and a landowner to protect land forever. The landowner continues to own manage the protected land, and the covenant and protection stays on the land, even when the property is sold to a new owner. Our Regional Representatives are responsible for providing QEII’s customer facing service. The contracted services include regular monitoring of registered covenants, assessing and preparing covenant proposals, and working closely with landowners to ensure the land is protected in conformity with their intentions. Regional representatives also work closely with key stakeholders in the area, including the regional council, territorial authority and local community groups. You would be engaged as an independent contractor for approximately 1400 hours per year, with your hours negotiated on an annual basis. You would work from your home office in the Tararua District and supply your own vehicle. Your function would be to: » Work with private landowners to protect areas of biodiversity and cultural significance in the Tararua District. » Monitor existing covenants and support landowners to meet their stewardship obligations. » Partner with the wider community and key stakeholders to raise consciousness, support and improve the biodiversity results for the region.
