Job Offer: Climate Action Ambassador [3 year fixed term]:Climate Action Ambassador [3 year fixed term] Hawke’s Bay Regional CouncilJob description:Job DescriptionAbout the Opportunity:Climate change is at the heart of everything we do at HBRC. The Climate Action Ambassador will join the Strategy and Governance team to help drive and influence our strategic direction, advocating for climate improvements at both a Regional and National level. We are a looking for a savvy and influential leader who will be able to build strong, collaborative connections across current and future climate adaptation and mitigation work programmes. We need Somebody with charisma who can generate active engagement while being able to identify strategic opportunities and galvanise action to make things happen! About the function: This is an exciting new function that has been established to coordinate Council's climate emergency response programme. This work will be vital in enabling us to achieve our goal to be carbon neutral at Council by 2025 and play a key leadership abilities function in Hawke's Bay becoming carbon neutral by 2050. To be prosperous in making positive change there needs to be active promotion of a community-wide response to reduce the Region's carbon emissions. this function will collaboratively lead the development of a regional climate strategy and a plan of action, while being the keystone person to build community consciousness, promote education and advocate for proactive change. About you: this function requires a bit of a super star! You will have excellent knowledge and knowledge of climate change challenges alongside the capability to present complex information to a range of audiences through your versatile and adaptive communication style. You will be a team player who can engage, influence and motivate others to come along for the journey with enthusiasm and commitment. To support your success in the function ideally you will also be able to demonstrate: » Astrategic focus with an knowledge of the political context in which decisions are made in both Central and Local Government. » The capability to confidently engage with our t?ngata whenua partners, territorial authorities, businesses and community leaders. » The confidence and communicative skill to present strategic advice to our Council, Executive leadership abilities team, your colleagues and the wider Hawke's Bay community. » Proven practice and skills in collaborating with a diverse range of people to develop and deliver projects and programmes of work.
