Pae M?hutonga, the School of Design, within the College of Creative Arts (CoCA) on the Massey University Wellington Campus. Fab Lab Wgtn is situated within the School of Design's James Coe Building technical facility and used by university staff and students for research and teaching. This well-equipped digital technologies and fabrication workshop is a place for learning and innovation to make, to create, to invent. The facility provides the creative environment, the skill support, the materials, and the advanced technology to allow our students and staff to realise their ideas, with a range of digital making equipment and tools to obtain the best results. Our students lgain by making, creating models and prototypes to understand the design processes and how new products are made using different techniques and materials for a more informed, critical use of digital technologies and systems. With a legacy of over a century in design education, Ng? Pae M?hutonga is recognized as one of the top 100 design schools in the world. The School provides an immersive, student-centred, learning environment that fosters research and innovation through studio-located creative practice. The contemporary portfolio of courses, faculty of internationally recognised leaders in design research and practice, and world-class facilities provide an ideal environment for students to realise their full creative potential. The Technical Demonstrator function presents a unique opportunity to support teaching and research in a practical, educational environment with practice and expertise across a range of digital technologies with the operation of rapid, additive, and subtractive manufacturing equipment. practice and expertise should include electronics, creative coding, and programming, mechatronics, digital knit/weave and embroidery, e-textiles, biomaterials, sustaincapability, and recycling systems. Equipment practice and expertise should include 3D CAD design, CNC mills, table routers, 3D printers and laser cutters plus software expertise including Rhinoceros 3D, SolidWorks, Autodesk, VCarve, and Adobe Creative Cloud. The candidate must be highly motivated and proactive with a proven capability to work both cooperatively and independently and have a availability and aptitude to lgain new expertise. You will have the capability to supervise and mentor individuals as well as groups of creative people to effectively use and understand digital maker technologies and maintain safe and healthy work practices. You will have well-developed interpersonal and communication expertise and the capability to adapt to changing demands and conditions to prioritise tasks while remaining calm and focused. candidates will have a significant tertiary qualification and/or proven practice in design or industry using equivalent technology, equipment, and practices.
