Senior Communications Advisor
Kia ?kaip? an? te reo M?ori: ?Te reo M?oriis restored as a nurturing first language?
This is the vision of a M?ori language strategy called the Maihi M?ori. Information technology was developed as a result of a nationwide consultation with stakeholders to understand their aspirations for te reo Ma?ori and the function of Te Ma?ta?wai in realising these aspirations.
Te M?t?wai enables k?inga, hapori and iwi to identify, pursue and fulfil their own M?ori language aspirations through:
   » our investment programme
   » seeking information to build a strong knowledge base that informs best practice M?ori language revitalisation
   » advocating and providing advice to ensure policy, systems and M?ori-language-related settings best support the revitalisation of the M?ori language in collaboration with our Maihi Karauna partners.
The function
We have a great opportunity for a Senior Communications Advisor in our Corporate Services team located in Wellington.
Reporting to the Communications and Marketing Manager, the Senior Communications Advisor will provide a high level of strategic enablement, advice, and guidance to support Te M?t?wai in all aspects of communications including:
   » Media and PR management
   » Reputation development
   » Newsletter and written content development
   » Strategic communication planning
The function has a broad scope and touches on all aspects of Communications.
About you
To succeed in this function you will bring:
   » proficiency in Te Reo M?ori and English
   » a significant tertiary qualification and at least five years' work practice in a related function
   » demonstrated capability to understand and use a variety of channels for effective communication to a range of audiences
   » strong presentation, communications expertise (written and oral) and relationship management expertise.
   » a commitment to the revitalization of the M?ori language.
   » a sound knowledge of tikanga and Treaty of Waitangi principles.
