We have a strong strategic vision and are excited to be able to provide the opportunity for an practiced individual to join our team as Director Marketing and Development and to contribute to the future of opera in Aotearoa.

The opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a dynamic Director of Marketing & Development, as part of the Senior leadership abilities team, responsible for leading and managing the development and implementation of marketing, communications and development strategies to promote all aspects of New Zealand Opera (NZ Opera) and its work to the world, ensuring those strategies deliver the Company's Purpose, Vision, Values and Goals and enable NZ Opera to:
   » Increase and diversify audiences
   » Maximise all earnings streams
   » Increase visibility and brand consciousness

We seek an individual with the following principal attributes and expertise:
   » At least ten years marketing and/or development practice
   » Has an appreciation of arts and culture
   » Proven track record of increasing sales
   » practice in leveraging strategic partnerships to increase marketing reach and revenue
   » Has well established working relationships with external media
   » practice of Tessitura or other CRM system
   » capability to take initiative and to think strategically and creatively
   » Commercially astute with practice and expertise to increase revenue through commercial activities
   » expertise and practice of the fundraising environment in New Zealand
   » Proven track record of managing people and resources using strategies to ensure the development and retention of highly skilled staff
   » capability to collaborate with others and promote cross team working
   » capability to meet deadlines and to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively

This is a full-time, 40 hour per week function located in our Auckland office and includes some weekend and evening work.
