Job description:

Job Description

» New strategic thought leadership abilities position
» Be at the conceptual edge of policy development
» Te Tiriti o Waitangi grounded organisation
» Flexible work hours (part-time/full time)
Do you thrive in an environment where you can be part of shaping something new? Are you looking for a start-up function that will have a positive impact on the lives of all people in Aotearoa New Zealand?
The Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission opened its doors on 9 February 2021 to bring leadership abilities and oversight to the transformation of our mental health and addiction system, and to contribute to better and equitable mental health and wellbeing results for all people in Aotearoa.
As a newly established organisation, this is a great time to join us and play a key function in supporting the Commission as we assess and report on progress with system transformation, monitor mental health and addiction services, and advocate for the collective interests of people with lived practice of mental distress and/or addiction.
As the Principal Policy Advisor you will provide the strategic thought leadership abilities and intellectual heft to play a key function in influencing the transformation of the mental health and wellbeing system now and into the future.
This is a rare opportunity to be at the conceptual edge of large-scale policy development and advance how government thinks about and invests in Wellbeing. You will lead conversations across other government agencies and community groups and craft impactful advice to shape thinking and influence decision makers. While having practice in this sector would be an advantage, having senior policy development practice where you can demonstrate advancing how government thinks about a complex subject area and in particular driving policy that improves results for M?ori will be key.
This is a great time to come on board our small team and drive identifying ways and opportunities to improve wellbeing in Aotearoa, and in particular for M?ori and our key population groups.
As a Te Tiriti o Waitangi-grounded organisation, we are committed to fulfilling our responsibility as an independent Crown Entity to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and work in partnership with M?ori as tangata whenua.
We want our workforce to be a reflection of our communities across Aotearoa and are actively seeking applications from people who represent that diversity.
To apply, please go to our website www.mhwc.govt.nz where you can download the position descriptions and application form.
Please send your completed application form to hr@mhwc.govt.nz
Applications close 5pm Thursday, 8 April 2021.
