Job Description

The Waitangi Tribunal is a permanent commission of inquiry charged with making recommendations on claims brought by M?ori relating to Tiriti o Waitangi. Information technology holds a unique place in the New Zealand constitutional framework. The Tribunal’s work includes registering claims, conducting and analysing research, liaising with external claimant parties, and writing reports.
Te ?huatanga a te t?ranga – About the function
The Registrarial Administrator supports the Waitangi Tribunal by performing functions that are essential to the effective operation of the organisation.
These functions include the following:
   » Administrative and Research Support to the Registrar, Senior Records and Information Advisor, Deputy Registrars and adjunct Registrars
   » Relationship Management
   » Contributing to the team effectiveness in the Claims and Registrarial team

To be prosperous in the function you will have the following:
   » practice in providing administration services
   » Prior practice in a legal environment – law student, law firm or court environment – where the importance and accuracy of the legal process has been learned is desirable
   » capability to undertake legal, policy and procedural research
   » capability to manage a number of tasks simultaneously
   » Strong time management and organisational expertise
   » High level of attention to detail and high standards of accuracy
   » practice as a member of a multi-skilled team and supporting team members
   » Strong oral and written communication expertise are essential
   » practice and knowledge of appropriate office PC-located technologies, including Microsoft Office suite, web and database applications, and online data resources
   » Knowledge and knowledge of statutory requirements in relation to the Treaty of Waitangi, and of protocols and procedures significant to the Waitangi Tribunal is highly desirable
   » Knowledge of, and respect for, M?ori cultural values and customs (tikanga) is highly desirable
   » Knowledge of Te Reo M?ori and/or a availability to continue learning
   » Knowledge of and commitment to the work of the Waitangi Tribunal is highly desirable
   » practice using administrative expertise

income range: The appointing income for this function will be between $50,128 to $70,768 located on expertise and practice.
