Senior Policy Analyst / Policy Analyst, Monitoring and Appointments Team
Are you looking to join a high performing team? Do you want to see a tangible impact from your work? Do you want to contribute to improvements in the Crown entity monitoring systems or lead appointments processes? We are pursuing two motivated and practiced Senior Policy Analysts and one Policy Analyst to join our team.
This is a unique function with significant opportunities to grow and progress your career working on high profile and challenging issues. You will deliver key outputs for Ministers and will help shape our strategic direction as the Crown monitor of The Office of Film and Literature Classification, Fire and Emergency New Zealand and TAB New Zealand.
You will work closely with Ministerial offices and senior representatives of Crown entities. You will demonstrate thought leadership abilities to shape the governance, strategic direction and performance of Crown entities, and will work across a range of exciting, and complex long-term issues.
You will also build diverse knowledge and multiple working relationships providing advice on appointments to Crown entities, statutory bodies, and deed-located boards across five Ministerial portfolios.
In this function you will have the opportunity to:
   » provide intellectual leadership abilities that enables Ministers to effectively supervise the performance and effectiveness of Crown entities, including superviseing the development and delivery of the Department's Crown monitoring programme;
   » take a lead as a Crown monitor superviseing the governance and performance of the Department's Crown entities;
   » provide clear and high impact advice on the governance, strategic direction, and performance of Crown entities;
   » work closely with senior officials to develop and shape the delivery of policy issues working closely with the Crown entities;
   » engage with Crown entities and other stakeholders to help shape our knowledge of entity and system performance; and
   » shape and influence the appointment of high performing boards.
About you
In this exciting and intellectually challenging function, you will bring an capability to see the big picture, with strong analytical expertise that enable you to effectively advise Ministers, Chief Executives and senior decision makers. Your innovative thinking will help shape the team's work programme and continue to shape our Crown monitoring approach.
You will need to have strong expertise in developing high quality and concise advice for Ministers, along with the confidence to engage with Chief Executives and Boards on a range of strategic issues. Potential candidates may have practice in governance, strategy, policy or investment/funding disciplines. practice in Crown entity monitoring, and/or the delivery of funding reviews, or practice in leading appointments processes is desirable, but not essential. We are open to hearing from candidates that may bring a range of policy expertise and practices significant to the function.
