About our group and team
The Ministry understands the critical importance of Cyber Security in Schools. As part of the Strategy, Planning and Architecture team, the Cyber Security for School group is driving the knowledge of cyber risk and the platforms and processes to uplift the maturity of Cyber Security in schools. The group works closely with operational security teams, 3rd parties, schools and peak bodies on both technical and process areas.
About this function
The position of Strategic Advisor – Digital Security Engagement is a new and exciting function with the Ministry. this function will shape how the Ministry engages with schools and peak bodies on Technology and Cyber issues.
In this function, your responsibilities will include the following:
   » Developing and deploying a communication plan and strategy covering the Cyber and Digital techno logy domains which will take into consideration the varied levels of maturity of schools in their Digital and Cyber journeys
   » Engaging with internal and external parties to ensure that schools and peak bodies receive a single and clear message on Cyber and Digital, including changes occurring in the education sector and uplifts in technology and security that may be required
   » Delivering content when needed, often to senior staff or external peak bodies, including media interviews to promote your work
   » Creating branding and collateral needed to ensure good content delivery
   » knowledge the use of multiple media platforms to deliver messaging and content
   » The capability to lgain and maintain technical knowledge in a rapidly changing Information technology space
   » The capability to become a trusted advisor to both technical and non-technical audiences
About you
This is a complex and unique function where your passion for technology most particularly in Digital Security and Communications can be used to improve results for schools.
Ideally, you will bring the following:
   » Strong knowledge of technology ideally in Cyber Security and wanting people to lgain about it
   » Prior practice in communications including the planning of a communication strategy and delivery of that plan
   » Prior practice in promoting technology to a range of end users and stakeholders
   » Prior practice in working with branding and content creators to produce quality collateral to support the communications plan
   » Excellent knowledge of diverse media platforms including social media, print, video and formal presentations
   » Excellent written and verbal communication expertise
   » Excellent cultural consciousness, ideally including prior practice developing working relationships with M?ori groups
   » Good knowledge of te reo M?ori
   » The capability to demonstrate your motivations to work in an environment that is committed to benefit our education system. This includes embracing our unique and diverse society which welcomes different abilities, religious beliefs, ethnic groups, earnings levels and ideas about teaching and learning
   » The capability to understand and develop your knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi which is a critical starting point in inclusive education in Aotearoa New Zealand
