About our Group
The Secondary Tertiary Group sits within Early Learning and Student Achievement (ELSA) and covers the transition from senior secondary through to tertiary and employment.
ELSA works to make learning and teaching significant, real and valued. We deliver and maintain critical services for the education sector to support responsive learner pathways from early childhood into further education, training, the workforce and society. ELSA performs a crucial function working between the strategy and policy teams, and the sector facing functions.
The Secondary Tertiary Group is responsible for operational policy, curriculum and support programmes for Year 11-13 learners, and the secondary-tertiary interface. This includes senior secondary curriculum, NCEA (inc luding the continuing NCEA Review and the Review of Achievement Standards) and secondary-tertiary pathways and transitions.
Team Administration function
The Team Administrator – Senior Secondary is part of the team that is currently delivering the Review of Achievement Standards (RAS) working closely with Subject Expert Groups and NZQQA to redevelop all achievement standards for NCEA Level 1-3 through by 2025.
The Team Administrator will provide administration support for the Senior Secondary Senior Manager and Chief Advisor and will be a member of the leadership abilities Team supporting 38 members. This will include calendar and inbox management and Secretariat support for the RAS Project Board.
About the person
We are seeking for someone who is thoughtful, agile and adept at handling ambiguity and complexity. Our ideal candidate will take pride in producing high quality work and will be comfortable working independently to achieve defined objectives. The person will be sensitive to cultural values and have a good knowledge of the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.
They will have sharp interpersonal expertise, superior writing expertise, and will be comfortable working with a diverse range of stakeholders and representing the Ministry.
practice and qualifications
Candidates will have ideally have the following:
   » Previous administration practice including working in a project or programme team, managing or supporting projects with multiple work streams and competing pressures
   » practice in working within the public sector and knowledge of the political environment and how related issues should be managed
   » practice in administration of contracts, purchase orders, timesheets, invoices, filing, meetings, minute taking, and reporting
   » capability to identify and organise what matters, anticipating next steps, accurately delivering what was commissioned
