About our group and team
Te Pae Aronui uses information, insights and service design functions to help the three Te Mahau frontline groups design and deliver services for the sector. We service and support the frontline groups and play an integration function between the enabling functions and our frontline services.
Our group provides nationally consistent service design, practice guidance and systems to support the integrated teams led by Directors of Education providing flexible and responsive services.
You’ll be joining a collaborative, high-performing team with a culture of constructive, open-minded debate who work together to implement effective, positive change in schools. About this function
The Manager Schooling Transitions is responsible for providing strategic direction to their team, as well as people planning and technical leadership abilities to ensure the success of key schooling and tertiary initiatives that support the strengthening of schooling pathways.
They provide nationally consistent service design, practice guidance and systems to our regional staff to support learners to move through education to employment with particular areas of focus at senior secondary level including NCEA, Trades Academies, Services Academies, vocational education and training, vocational pathways, careers transitioning, and youth at risk of low employment results.
The function has a particular focus on achievement, retention, transitions through schooling to tertiary and supports sustainable networks and partnerships across the sector.
To be prosperous in this function you will need to be an excellent communicator with proven expertise in building and managing strong, effective relationships.
You will need:
   » a significant tertiary qualification
   » practice providing high-level advice and significant practice with programme management
   » practice of leading and motivating teams
   » the capability to think strategically and understand the wider educational landscape
   » to understand and give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for the work of the Ministry
   » an capability to negotiate with peers and those senior to ensure the delivery of written material and respond to requests
   » high-level capability to write with clarity, present cogent arguments, and deliver messages across a range of formats
   » high-level analytical expertise that define a problem, evaluate alternatives, find a solution, and make effective decisions
   » education sector practice with excellent knowledge of the secondary/ tertiary/ employer interface
   » advanced influencing, relationship management and stakeholder engagement expertise.
