We have a beautiful 300 cow dairy farm located in Tuatapere, Southland. We are a family run farm with the two of us and our 1 year old wee boy! We are seeking for a bit of help with either the little man or some jobs around the farm whether that be milking cows, fencing or odd jobs. No practice is necessary as we all had to start somewhere but a availability to get stuck in and a sprinkle of commonsense will get you a long way! Couples are more than welcome to apply and we can share work to everyone's strengths. What you will offer: Attitude is more important to us than practice! You will be willing to give most things a go as yes you will get covered in cow poo at some point! Relicapability is a big thing for us. Unless your arm is falling off, if you've said you will be there then please follow through. We don't have the luxury of flexibility with the cows and Information technology has a major impact on our business. Dairy farm expertise can be taught but children expertise not so much so being comfortable around children and wee bit creative would be awesome! Our wee man is pretty easy going and just wants a play mate but you will need enough sense not to put him in danger. Any expertise or practice you may have in anything we would love to hear it! We are largely against the use of synthetics and chemicals on our dairy farm and are trying to get ourselves to self sufficiency so if you're green fingered that would be cool! We love trying new things too What we can offer: Your own 2 bedroom, double glazed and heated home. Fully furnished and about 50m from the main farmhouse. All power and endlessWiFi paid for and a vehicle for use when looking after our boy and possible personal use if you wish. We are happy to limit your hours at enough to cover accommodation etc. (Such as a couple days work a week) or if you are keen to get stuck in, any extra work will be paid at $25 per hour. You will never work more than 5 days a week and we are happy to organise longer weekend trips if you wanted to travel a bit! We are 2 hours from Queenstown, 1 hour from Invercargill, 1 hour from Te Anau but situated literally right on a cliff with a 5 minute drive to the beach with awesome surfing, fishing and hunting opportunities. We definitely live a rural life so if city conveniences are your thing we probably are not a right fit for you! But if you love the Bush, the countryside, awesome views and the ocean then we are in the perfect spot! We understand we are rural which is why we are happy to offer longer time off to get away and a vehicle if you would need it. I was once a backpacker myself so completely understand the need for independence! Summer is (kind of) here so beach bbqs and outings are a part of life and we will include you if you are interested! Ultimately we are flexible, easy going and completely understand what it's like to be in your position so will try and accommodate you as best as possible to keep everyone happy and get the most from your time here!
