K?rero m? te t?ranga – About the function
Te Herenga Waka – Victoria University of Wellington is inviting applications for a Kaiakiaki/ M?ori Engagement Advisor to join the ?whina team (M?ori student support services). This is a permanent full-time position, however, the ?whina team supports work and life balance and therefore flexible working arrangements would be considered for prosperous candidates.
? p?manawa – About you
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to bring their passion for supporting M?ori students in their educational journey while developing themselves.
You will be comfortable working with M?ori students from diverse backgrounds, providing support, facilitating sessions and operating in the digital space. As a highly organised, innovative and self-motivated individual, you will have proven practice in collaboration and communication across diverse cohorts.
Key requirements include the following:
   » Sound knowledge of tikanga M?ori
   » Knowledge and knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in an educational context
   » Knowledge of the university or tertiary education environment and issues relating to M?ori students
   » Proven practice in a significant educational function such as academic learning support, teaching or mentoring
Sound knowledge and knowledge of te reo M?ori, and practice working within the tertiary sector are advantageous.
