About the function
You will be leading a team of Youth Justice Coordinators, who are responsible for managing Family Group Conferences (FGCs) in conformity with the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989. You will be able to incorporate a mana enhancing and restorative approach within your practice and utilise the combined knowledge of community resources, networks, and opportunities. The work you do will contribute to create an alternative offending-free future for the tamaiti/rangatahi.
The Team Leader is responsible for the effective management of a team of Youth Justice Coordinators and support staff to ensure the efficient delivery of case work that fulfils the service delivery responsibilities of Oranga Tamariki as agreed with the Minister. The Team Leader will also ensure that the services and resources are managed in conformity with the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 and the State Sector Act 1988 and other significant legislation.
What you will bring:
   » Proven and prosperous people management practice including motivating people for improved performance
   » prosperous management of risk in critical situations
   » knowledge of te Ao Maori and an capability to apply tikanga Maori and Te Reo Maori within Family Group Conferences and your day-to-day practice
   » Proven practice in supporting staff in the complex and sometimes difficult function they undertake
   » A sound knowledge of significant legislation.
   » knowledge and sensitivity to multi-cultural matters, in particular, knowledge of tikanga Maori, and Pacific peoples’ culture through having participated with those cultures.
   » Knowledge of, and established links to, community networks and practice working in collaboration with community workers, government departments, including work in multicultural situations.
   » Hold a full clean driver’s licence
