Do you want direct and significant relationship with tamariki and rangatahi, supporting them to move beyond the criminal justice system.
Join our high functioning team committed to getting the best results for rangatahi and tamariki through preventative measures.
About us
Our Youth Justice Social Workers are the key people who work with young people, their wh?nau, police, youth advocates and essential government and community support services when a young person has committed a serious offence.
We are seeking for an enthusiastic, qualified Social Worker who can help us by positively influencing rangatahi to accept responsibility and to change their behaviours. You will be someone who can ensure their voices are heard and empower wh?nau to engage in family group conferences and court proceedings.
Part of your function to achieve these results will be by completing assessments, working with our rangatahi to create plans and by partnering with other agencies and stakeholders to get wrap around support in place for them.
You will work with tamariki and rangatahi, their wh?nau, victims, stakeholders and communities to appropriately address offending behaviour. Information technology is challenging, and we are passionate about it.
To be prosperous, you will need the following:
   » A passion for Youth Justice
   » A Social Work Qualification with Full Registration and current Annual Practising Certificate with the New Zealand Social Worker Registration Board Excellent relationship building skills
   » Strong written and verbal communication skills (you will need to provide professional written and verbal feedback to the courts)
   » A commitment to bi-cultural practice and a culturally responsive approach (including a good knowledge of Tikanga M?ori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi)
   » An knowledge of the Oranga Tamariki Act and Youth Justice processes
   » Proven skills and social work practice in child protection and an knowledge of New Zealand legislation that relates to the safety of children and young people
   » A full, clean driver’s licence
