We have functions in our ECE Policy, M?ori Education Policy and System Policy teams. About our group We provide strategic policy advice to enable an inclusive education system that contributes to the expertise and knowledge needed for social, cultural, economic and environmental wellbeing. You’ll be located in the Education System Policy Group – a group with shared values that seeks to make a real difference to the children, young people and their wh?nau in Aotearoa. About the teams: » The Early Childhood Policy team focuses on designing high quality funding and regulatory approaches for early learning services. This work helps to support parental choices and supports children in their early years to enjoy a good life, lgain and thrive in a safe environment. We are often involved in securing funding for high profile Budget initiatives, working on changes to primary or secondary legislation, and providing stewardship around the key funding settings for early learning services. Our team works closely with other Ministry teams working on curriculum, workforce development, data analysis, and payment and licensing of early learning services. Our team has responsibility for delivering on key actions contained in the Early Learning Action Plan 2019-2029, the Government’s blueprint for improving the earl y learning system. Current projects include: the Early Learning Regulatory Review, the Review of Equity and Targeted Funding, and pay parity in early learning. » The System Policy Team takes a cross-cutting perspective across the education system. The team develops policy and provides advice to achieve improvement across the schooling system. System transformation requires a deep knowledge of how the system works, the way people behave within it, and the interaction of policies and legislative settings. »Examples of recent work includes: » supporting the Tomorrows’ Schools work through to an implementation ready state, while ensuring the intent of the policy continues to have the potential to create the system change intended » considering how collaboration between education providers can be used as system transformation, including the function of K?hui Ako » strengthening the function of school governance to ensure a strong focus on education results. » Ko te kaupapa o te R?p? M?ori : Ka tae M?ori atu ng? ?konga M?ori ki ng? taumata angitu o te matauranga, ka whai p?kenga hoki e whai w?hi ai r?tau ki te ao M?ori, ki Aotearoa me te ao wh?nui. The work of the M?ori Policy team focuses on ensuring that M?ori are enjoying and achieving education success as M?ori, so they develop the expertise to participate in te ao M?ori, Aotearoa and the wider world. This includes a focus on growing te reo M?ori through education and growing education through te reo M?ori to protect and promote e reo M?ori for future generations.
