About our group The Secondary Tertiary team sits within the Early Learning and Student Achievement Group (ELSA) and covers the transition from senior secondary through to tertiary and employment. ELSA delivers and maintains critical services to support responsive learner pathways from early childhood into further education, training, the workforce and society. ELSA performs a crucial function working between the strategy and policy teams, and the sector facing functions. The Secondary Tertiary team is responsible for operational policy, curriculum and support programmes for Year 11-13 learners, and the secondary-tertiary interface. This includes senior secondary curriculum, NCEA (including implementing the NCEA Review changes through the Review of Achievement Standards (RAS)) and secondary-tertiary programmes. About the function The Operations and Implementation team in ST has a key function in implementing the NCEA change programme. We work with students, parents and whanau, the education sector, employers and the wider community to understand, design and deliver the implementation support needed to prosperously embed, change and strengthen NCEA. The Senior Advisor will contribute to these aspects of the implementation of the NCEA change programme. They will have responsibility for specific work streams that support the aims of the team, provide advice on operationalising policy, and work to leverage user insights and lived practice into decision-making and planning. The Senior Advisor will contribute to the work of the wider Secondary Tertiary team and the intention and principles of the change programme, as well as the goals and priorities of the Ministry. About the person The person we seek will be an adaptable, fast learner who can appreciate the importance of well delivered projects so we can make the best difference to all New Zealanders. Our ideal candidate will take pride in producing high quality work, be an innovative thinker, have leadership abilities expertise and will be comfortable working independently to achieve defined objectives. The person will be sensitive to cultural values and have a good knowledge of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
