About our group and team The purpose of the Strategy and Implementation team is to lead the collaborative development and iteration of strategic initiatives within Te Pae Aronui in alignment with the Ministry’s vision and priorities. We translate policy decisions into collaborative, coherent, fit-for-purpose service design, ensuring implementation by regional leads is well supported at the national level. Mo tenei turanga – About this function This is an exciting opportunity for a highly practiced professional to join our Strategy and Implementation team. this function works closely with our Strategic Implementation team to develop well-informed, iterative forward Strategy for Te Pae Aronui and deliver the Education Work programme. The Lead Advisor is responsible for working across Strategy and Implementation to ensure knowledge and application of strategic context to service design, change management and implementation planning and communication. Your focus will be on strategic initiatives ensuring strategy is mindful of the context and purpose of the policy Information technology seeks to embody and the pragmatic implications for those charged with implementation for the benefit of stakeholders across the Ministry and our regions. This is a wide-ranging position, and some of your responsibilities will include the following: » Supports Strategy and Implementation colleagues to develop, embed and continuously improve a strategic delivery framework and supporting tools to influence appropriate early consultation, planning, implementation, and evaluation of work activities » Provide advice and support on strategic decisions making, prioritisation and operational improvement » Provides advice and support in particular to the design of measures and metrics by which policy implementation may be monitored and reported to ascertain effectiveness » Contribute to change in policy and strategy located on the adoption of service design practice » Establish strong working relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective engagement Mohou ake – About you Your background should include practice in the public sector and the capability to demonstrate the following practice: » Good knowledge of the machinery of government, public sector delivery structures and systems » capability to quickly identify and mitigate risks and manage strategic linkages with internal and external initiatives » Strong communication expertise particularly written communication expertise across a variety of settings » practice in working with diverse stakeholder interests » Working with ambiguity and in flexible ways to manage moving priorities » Strong knowledge of the policy process and can develop policy options with fit for purpose implementation in mind To be prosperous in the function, you’ll be working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, developing relationships at senior levels.
