Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Te W?nanga o Waipapa is seeking Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in M?ori Studies . The prosperous candidate will teach into our te reo courses as well as contribute to our broader teaching programme. Alongside te reo me ng? tikanga M?ori programme the ideal candidate will have the capability to be able to contribute to one or more other areas such as m?tauranga M?ori, M?ori media, M?ori politics, M?ori performing arts, M?ori research or Indigenous Studies.
M?ori Studies at the University of Auckland aims to preserve and advance M?ori language, cultural practices and kapa haka as well as generating new M?ori and Indigenous knowledge. Information technology seeks to support the realisation of M?ori aspirations for full participation in national life as M?ori and to support Tangata Tiriti by ensuring a greater knowledge of the knowledge traditions of M?ori and their economic, political and social realities.

About Te W?nanga o Waipapa/School of M?ori Studies
We actively support M?ori development by promoting and advancing our knowledge of te ao M?ori through our teaching and research. In our research, we draw on m?tauranga M?ori and disciplinary knowledge to create new knowledge, ideas and innovations for the benefit of M?ori, iwi, local, national and global communities. The Faculty of Arts hosts NZ’s M?ori Centre of Research Excellence Ng? Pae o te M?ramatanga, advancing m?tauranga M?ori, M?ori science, kaupapa M?ori and tikanga M?ori research.

To be considered for the function you must have:
   » A PhD in M?ori Studies or Indigenous Studies or related field
   » Fluency and advanced proficiency in te reo M?ori and English
   » A developing research publication record
   » practice in teaching at the tertiary level ideally including supervision of post-graduate students
   » practice of working with diverse student groups
   » Sound knowledge and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and knowledge of tikanga M?ori
   » A commitment to quality teaching, underpinned by a knowledge of blended and innovative teaching practices
