Our work in the Justice Policy Group is wide-ranging, with opportunities to shape thinking and drive change across the justice and social sectors. Information technology is important and challenging work, with new tests of your critical thinking and relationship management expertise every day.
Our Principal Policy Advisors bring a depth of practice to fulfil a key leadership abilities function within their teams and across the wider Group. They are responsible for supporting our policy capcapability, providing authoritative advice, and leading programmes of work on complex and sensitive issues.
Electoral and Constitutional team, Civil and Constitutional
The Electoral and Constitutional policy team provides advice on our constitutional arrangements, which aim to ensure that State actions are legitimate and are accepted as such; our democratic structures and the processes by which we choose our elected leaders; and rights related to protecting the privacy of New Zealanders.
We have a permanent Principal Advisor position in our Electoral and Constitutional team. We are pursuing an practiced and insightful Principal Advisor who brings practice of applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi to policy development and advice.
this function will involve working with the team to develop well-considered advice that:
   » supports the Crown to honour its responsibilities to M?ori
   » protects and maintains democracy for all New Zealanders
   » drives clear and accessible law on elections, privacy, and open government.
He p?kenga tou/expertise and practice:
The prosperous candidate will have a significant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge, expertise, and practice.
They will demonstrate the following:
   »Relationship expertise - Strong expertise in engaging diverse internal and external stakeholders, learning from their perspectives as well as influencing them
   »leadership abilities expertise - practice in leading others in significant projects, and applying a coaching approach to enhance the capcapability of advisors and senior advisors
   »Advisory expertise - broad knowledge of machinery of Government and public policy, and applying political judgement, knowledge and practices to anticipate risks and test ideas, analysis and assumptions in others’ work
   »Communication expertise - Excellent communication expertise, in particular able to explain complex issues in an accessible fashion, and ask questions to improve your knowledge
   »Te ao M?ori - practice in working with iwi and M?ori organisations and designing, applying and advising on te ao M?ori and Te Tiriti-located frameworks for policy

Utu ?-tau/income
The appointing income for this function will be between $116,741 and $152,450 located on expertise and practice.
