Job Opportunity: 1001212 Associate Chief Librarian – Research Access:Department of Internal Affairs - Te Tari TaiwhenuaJob description:Job DescriptionType: Fixed termHours: Full time Job location: Wellington Business Group: National Library Branch: Enterprise Partnerships income: $128,758 – $172,789 A Milestone Moment A fixed-term opportunity has become available working as part of a senior cohort of leaders across the National Library in Wellington. The Associate Chief Librarian, Research Access currently has responsibility for the Research Enquiry and Outreach functions of the Alexander Turnbull Library. This includes oversight of the mahi of service leaders responsible for onsite reading rooms, distance enquiries and outreach services (including oral history training and advice, and the National Preservation Office). The opportunity is fixed term because the former incumbent is acting in a Directors function until June 2025. The National Library is preparing for the establishment of a documentary heritage campus occasioned by the construction of a new, adjacent national archives building. The Department is exploring ways in which the facilities and resources of both the National Library and Archives New Zealand can be optimized as part of a transformation programme called Te Ara Tahi. The challenge of the function is to provide leadership abilities that enables business-as-usual activities to be delivered, while supporting team involvement in conversations that imagine different ways of doing business as part of a collaborative, pan-institution approach.
