Services » Permanent position » Fully funded insurance » Professional development opportunities » Fully funded insurance » Permanent position, 8.30am - 4.30pm » Professional development opportunities Our Nelson based client is looking for a proactive and motivated Senior Accountant with proven experience to join their progressive business. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, in your role you will assist in accounting, finance and administrative functions. You will be working collaboratively across the business to support the objectives and goals of this essential business. The Key responsibilities of this role are: Financial Reporting » Manage the closing of month-end and end-of-year accounts including the drafting of the annual financial reports » Prepare monthly extraction costing analyses » Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations » Produce month-end board reports including but not limited to revenue and cost breakdown per product, plant utilisation, cash flow forecast, etc. » Assist in the production of budgets and forecasts on monthly and annual bases Payroll (only as a backup but the Senior Accountant must know how to process payrolls) » Process payrolls, when needed, through the IMS Payroll system and upload to online banking for payment » Prepare journal entries to record payroll transactions including month-end accruals Taxation/IRD » Update the tax fixed asset register, prepare income tax calculations and accompanying schedules for submission to and review by the tax advisors » Coordinate with tax advisors, the IRD, and auditors on matters related to taxation » Prepare and file PAYE and GST returns on a timely basis (only as backup) System-related » Create or update customer, vendor, item, and fixed asset cards in Business Central (BC) » Review and approve item journals prepared by the Logistics and Production teams » Be the 'BC-Champion' and go-to-person of users for system issues Accounts Payable » Oversee the timely settlement of supplier invoices including the review of monthly batch payments (20th of each month) » Ensure that reconciliation of creditor invoices against statements, including the resolution of any discrepancies, is done on a monthly basis Accounts Receivable » Ensure that collections from customers are recorded and any issues are resolved on a timely basis » Monitor overdue invoices and follow up with customers Qualifications/Experience: » At least 5 years' experience in accounting/audit roles » Can fully handle financial closing process and day-to-day accounting operations » Good understanding of NZ taxation particularly income tax, GST, and PAYE » Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central (NAV) and IMS Payroll preferable This is a great role that will also allow you to work on special projects and bring fresh ideas to the table.
