About the function
Please note this function can be located in Wellington or Auckland.
We are seeking for an practiced Middleware Technical Specialist with focus on Middleware Design to join our Infrastructure Applications Team. You will be responsible for looking at the MSD middleware systems and connections at an enterprise level and designing and documenting solutions whilst collaborating across teams. This key function bridges the gap between applications, middleware and infrastructure and ensures the competent and efficient operation of the Ministry's information systems to meet ministerial needs and strategic objectives.
Drawing on your technical skills you will have strong communication skills, written and verbal and capability to work within a multi-platform integrated environment. The capability to work under pressure and manage difficult situations is highly regarded.
You will have proven practice as a Middleware Technical Specialist supporting the full SDLC through to Production with the capability to quickly understand and be trained in the areas you may not have proven practice.
Key Requirements:
   » Infrastructure analysis/design & implementation of hardware and software solutions on connected platforms.
   » Lead technical management in the delivery of operational projects.
   » knowledge emerging technologies, related technologies, methodologies and advise, recommend and lead the adoption of appropriate technologies as required.
   » High level of practice installing, configuring, tuning, operating, monitoring and troubleshooting Weblogic Server and/or IBM Websphere.
   » Previous practice supporting applications in a production environment.
   » practice of other middleware platforms (IBM BPM/ODM, Rails, Tomcat, DataPower) desirable.
   » Excellent problem diagnosis and investigation skills.
   » practice working within a DevOps environment & exposure to Continuous Delivery practice is desired but not essential.
