Full-time, permanent, Auckland (North Harbour)
Are you a recognised leader that wants to make a positive difference for tamaiti, rangatahi, their wh?nau and your community? We are seeking for a permanent Youth Justice Coordinator to join our passionate team located at our North Harbour site.
About the function
As a Youth Justice Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing Family Group Conferences (FGCs) in conformity with the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989. You will work with tamaiti/rangatahi, wh?nau and the wider community to address the underlying causes which have led to the offending of tamaiti/rangatahi. You will be able to incorporate a mana enhancing and restorative approach within your practice and utilise the combined knowledge of community resources, networks, and opportunities. The work you do will contribute to create an alternative offending-free future for the tamaiti/rangatahi.
this function may require you to travel to other areas in our region. You will need to be flexible with work and travel.
What team you will work with
You will be joining the Hawkes Bay Youth Justice team located in Napier and Hastings. You will also be attached to a wider region of Youth Justice Coordinators located in the Auckland region. The team is passionate about doing the right thing for our tamaiti/rangatahi, wh?nau and the people affected by the offending. You will be provided with 1-1 coaching and mentoring with the Team Leader of FGCs and further support from the other practiced Youth Justice Coordinators.
What you will bring:
   » To be responsive to tamaiti/rangatahi and wh?nau M?ori you will have a deep knowledge of te Ao M?ori and an capability to apply tikanga M?ori and Te Reo M?ori within Family Group Conferences and your day-to-day practice
   » Excellent communication and relationship building expertise
   » Proven negotiation and advocacy expertise as well as strong problem solving, and decision-making expertise
   » Empathy, patience, and capability to see past what someone may be struggling with
   » Excellent group facilitation and mediation expertise
   » Vast practice working within your community and establishing strong relationships with stakeholders
   » To be highly organised, methodical and solutions focused
   » Computer literate with the capability to keep accurate records and write reports
   » Hold a full clean driver’s license
   » An knowledge of youth law and/or practice
