Job Offer: Visual artist?s agent:Job description:Job detailsOrganisation Visual artist's studio Closes 5 Nov 2022 Posted on 1 Nov 2022 Region National Work type Contract Work classification Visual Arts ShareContract rate: $70,000 - $110,000 per year Established visual artist seeks someone practiced in growing and managing artist careers here and internationally While visual artists agents aren't common in Aotearoa, if you are one, or have the networks and skill set, I'd love to hear from you.I'm seeking to contract a dedicated artist agent (instead of a dealer gallery) for a 1-2 year transition period, while expanding my practice and career opportunities. The work will be varied and dynamic.I've been working witha dealer gallery, but am exploring options for other ways of working. I'm looking for an practiced and motivated person who's also interested in other ways of making things work. EOI's will be kept completely confidential. What I have : » A critically engaged art practice » A full time career as an artist » A collector base What I'm looking for: Someone who can operate under their own name or agency to: » Manage and process the sales of my work » Build and maintain relationships with existing and new collectors » Manage freighting and delivery of fragile art works » Organise exhibitions (alongside me) once a year » Network with curators and public institutions » Build and broker relationships with dealer galleries internationally (this could be a seperate function if it's your speciality) » Coordinate advertising and promotion » Support with project management of studio, funding, and exhibitions Ideally you'll have : » practice working in established dealer galleries » practice working as an artist agent internationally » Curatorial practice, or practice working with institutions » Existing art world networks within Aotearoa (or internationally) » practice managing and growing artist careers » practice working directly with artists and collectors Not all of these are necessary - but please specify what practice from this list Information technology is that you have. If you have practice in just one of the areas above, feel free to submit an EOI as I'm open to different areas being handled by different contractors or agents if need be. This work could be full time but doesn't have to be if you need to maintain other mahi. Job location: open Ideally someone would be located in T?maki Makaurau, but for the right person, Information technology doesn't matter where you are in Aotearoa. A contract (including job description) will be co-written alongside the prosperous agent or agents, to suit their strengths, expertise, capacity and expectations. The contract rate is dependent on practice and capacity - and what aspects of the function are taken on - but I'm committed to paying people really well in exchange for really good work.
