The arts broker is an independent contractor who is funded by Franklin Local Board. They administer a budget for community and place-located arts projects, on behalf of the local board, that promote the arts locally and provide support and advice to community, arts workers and organisations seeking to generate creative projects.
The arts broker is a local expert. They should have expertise of the arts, both nationally and internationally, but their primary focus is the arts and community within their geographic area. Their function provides a connection point with a variety of community interests and organisations, while identifying opportunities for the arts and advising on best practice.
The programme of work developed through the projects supported by the arts broker will include delivery across the whole of the Franklin Local Board area; engage with and reflect the diversity of the area; activate existing public spaces, such as streets, parks, town centres or empty shops; demonstrate partnership with other local community arts organisations and include a diverse range of art forms. Information technology is constructed with reference to the Local Board Plans as well as the Auckland Council Arts and Culture Strategic Action Plan, Toi Wh?tiki.
Minimum practice / qualifications
   » Five years in an arts delivery function
   » Degree or equivalent practice
   » practice in community-located work

A budget of $39,500 has been allocated to fund the contracted hours of thebroker from 9 August 2021 - 30 June 2022. A further project fund of up to $32,500 has been allocated to support the delivery of a work programme of activity.
The prosperous candidate will be required to hold public licapability insurance with $2 million in cover.
How to submit the application:

Proposals are due on or before 5pm on Sunday 18 July 2021 and require a detailed outline of the specific approach and methodology to providing the services of the arts broker, detailing how they will:
   » support delivery across the entire Franklin Local Board area
   » engage with and reflect the diversity of the area
   » activate existing public spaces, streets, parks, town centres and empty shops
   » demonstrate partnership with other local arts or community organisations
   » include a diverse range of art forms.

   » consciousness of community needs and themes
   » Proven track record
   » Strategic and planning approach
   » Pricing structure.
