Te Aka Taiwhenua – the M?ori Strategic Framework – enables DIA to work effectively with M?ori and is underpinned by m?t?pono – Kotahitanga, Manaakitanga, Whanaungatanga, He T?ngata. DIA recognises the criticality of building an enduring and significant relationships, and working effectively with M?ori, key stakeholders, and other agencies. As such, a pivotal position has become available within the M?tauranga M?ori programme, that will call to those with solid m?tauranga M?ori, tikanga and te reo.
Te ?hua o Te T?runga – The nature of the position
The Senior Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordination, monitoring and reporting on the work connected with the M?tauranga M?ori programme, progressing the investment roadmap, and governance reporting. Building relationships through effective engagement with wh?nau, hap?, and iwi, this is a highly collaborative function that will require active building and maintenance of relationships with te ao M?ori practitioners, business units, Tiriti partners and key sector stakeholders. You will be a critical and central point of contact for programme documentation and delivery, and you will supervise the development of a communications strategy and take the lead function in content curation for promotion of programmes.
Adopting a collaborative approach to ensure an open flow of information, advice and support will see you utilise your well-developed communication skills in order to build effective connections with managers across Te Ara Tahi and other business groups.
Championing the Te Tari Taiwhenua strategic statement that DIA is an agent of the Crown and Te Tiriti o Waitangi is important to everything they say and do; you will work effectively with M?ori stakeholders and help to deliver priorities of M?ori strategies, plans and initiatives, including policies and initiatives that support the individual and collective kaitiaki rights and interests of M?ori.
Part of your operational remit will be the support of the Director, M?tauranga M?ori to manage financial responsibilities, producing and managing spreadsheets to assist in reporting finances. superviseing hui set up, including arranging venues and ensuring people are informed, you will assist the Director with calendar management, meeting preparation and lead delivery of internal and external events for governance groups and stakeholders.
Ng? tino P?kenga/Wheako – Essential skills/practices for the function
An knowledge of m?tauranga M?ori, tikanga and te reo is a requirement of this position, supported by the capability to take part in general conversation with speakers of te reo M?ori:
   » Demonstrated planning and reporting practice.
   » Skills within the M?tauranga M?ori or public sector environment.
   » Coordination and performance reporting practice.
   » practice focused on M?tauranga M?ori, Te Reo me ?na tikanga.
   » A demonstrated analytical and a critical thinking style.
   » The practice to balance spreadsheets and monthly general ledgers.
   » A sound knowledge and knowledge of Crown responsibilities under Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the aspirations and needs of M?ori.
   » Proven knowledge machinery of government, accountcapability arrangements and processes.
   » Strong communication skills with an agile manner of working and excellent organisational skills.
   » The practice to effectively manage internal and external stakeholders through advocacy, supported by the capability to partner with stakeholders to advise, influence and build trust.
   » Proven knowledge machinery of government, accountcapability arrangements and processes.
A formal qualification is desirable, however not a mandatory application requirement.
There is a flexibility of location offered for this position in order to attract a high-level skill set of applicant.
