About our group and team
Sector Enablement and Support (SE&S) is the Ministry’s operational service delivery group. We work closely with our Ministry, sector and government agency colleagues to ensure early childhood services, schools, kura and communities have the support they need to achieve the best education results for all children and young people.
Our regional teams focus on supporting early learning services, schools and kura, as well as provide specialist learning support to children and young people. We do this through coordinating and delivering responsive solutions in order to realise the local education priorities and goals.
About this function
The Waikato region is one of the fastest growing areas in New Zealand. The Lead Advisor Network will lead medium and long term planning for schooling provision in a range of settings including M?ori Medium within the Waikato schooling networks. This requires working with local authorities, schools, Boards of Trustees, Iwi and other groups including government agencies, and regional and national Ministry of Education staff, in order to proactively identify changing needs within the schooling network so that the Ministry is able to respond effectively.
This is a challenging function that combines urban planning, project management and stakeholder engagement to manage growth and decline across the existing network of schools.
About you
Key to this function will be your capability to build strong working relationships with the sector, community, iwi and the wider Ministry to ensure we are able to respond effectively to network requirements. You will be resilient, a confident communicator and have the capability to apply a strategic lens to your work.
You will also offer:
   » practice building strong working relationships with multiple stakeholders
   » practice interpreting data (statistical and demographic) and providing insights in a significant way
   » Ideally some practice with project management/planning expertise and an knowledge of project management methodology
   » practice engaging with iwi would be advantageous
   » The capability to build a good knowledge of the wider regional environment
   » The capability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga
